MEET INTERN ARCHITECT MICHAEL HOLLAND

BDT is expanding. We have some pretty amazing people at BDT and would like to introduce you to some of them! Meet Michael Holland, Intern Architect. Read more about Michael’s background, role and interests below.

How long have you been a part of the BDT team?
It will be 2 years in September.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role!
I am an Intern Architect who graduated from Philadelphia University in May of 2015. My role at BDT includes drafting, rendering, project management, and administration, all coupled with continuous learning as I approach licensure.

What does a regular day look like for you?
Typically you can find me at my desk drafting one of BDT’s newest design ideas, however this summer I have had the pleasure of doing an ample amount of construction administration which not only provides new learning experiences, but gets me out of the office and into the field.

What is the most exciting part about your role?
The most exciting part about my role at BDT is that I have no specific role! Aiding in all portions and facets of the design process provides me with experiences that many interns don’t get access to.

What do you like the most about working at BDT?
The collaborative nature of the firm and its staff.

How did you decide you wanted to be in your current field?
I had been interested in design and construction from an early age. Once I learned exactly what role an architect played in the construction process the decision was easy.

What excites you most about your career choice?
The fact that there is always an opportunity for learning and problem solving. I think a lot of people strive for new experiences, and as an architect, every day has something different in store for you.

What would you say to someone who wanted to know more about BDT?
I would describe BDT simply as a dedicated, passionate group of design enthusiasts. When it all boils down I think any potential client or new employee would want to work with a group who genuinely love what they do. That’s what the BDT culture is all about.
