BDT’S 2016 YEAR IN REVIEW

Much like the rest of the world, we are ready to work together and move forward into 2017. However, we would be remiss to not reflect on our accomplishments in the past year. BDT marked 2016 as a year of transition.

Our most exciting transition has been expanding our firm by opening a second office in Columbus. We made the announcement in fall of 2016 and have started renovations. The new BDT storefront is located in the Discovery District neighborhood of Columbus. This is our firm’s first satellite location after over 30 years of being headquartered in Athens, Ohio. The new Columbus office is scheduled to open to the public later this winter. Stay tuned for details via our blog and other BDT social media channels.

Another exciting transition from 2016, BDT finalized plans for a new office building in Athens, Ohio. This location will include the firm’s headquarters and archives. Ground will break soon. A unique feature of the building structure is that it rises above the floodplain on a grid of piers. The new office is scheduled to open in Fall 2017.

2016 was highlighted by multi-phased renovations guided by designers at BDT. Some projects of note from the past year are:

  • The Ohio State University’s Bolz Hall features 16,000 square feet of low-e glazed curtainwall and over 50 replacement windows.
  • Ohio University expanded its College of Business into 24,000 square feet of the Computer Science Center.
  • Shawnee Lodge received its first major infrastructure improvements in over 3 decades.
  • Athens Historical Society is relocating its archives into a 70-year old former worship building as the Southeast Ohio Museum.
  • Holzer Health Systems opened its long-awaited Wellness Center out of an abandoned grocery store.

As we reflect on 2016, we are very excited to see what 2017 will hold for BDT. Follow us on our social channels and our blog for the latest BDT news and updates.

Cheers!
