WOMEN IN ARCHITECTURE

BDT is a proud committee sponsor of Diversity by Design at AIA Columbus. Diversity by Design (DxD) is a Collective Leadership Group advocating difference towards authentic design solutions. The group provides support and pipeline development to enhance diversity, equity & inclusion within the profession of architecture. This includes encouraging and celebrating the contributions of those who bring diverse experiences, views, and needs into the design process. BDT Architect Erin Reilly-Sanders introduced a recent DxD hosted event:

“I’m excited to be here tonight to represent BDT Architects & Designers as a sponsor of the AIA Columbus Women in Architecture Reception. We aim to incorporate the Diversity by Design Committee’s goal of enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our firm’s practices. We know that this isn’t easy, or that we won’t be perfect at every attempt but our cores values are a covenant to be inquisitive, empathetic, and kind so that we listen, acknowledge, and try to understand. We are also pledged to be courageous, bold, and action-oriented so that we can be a part of the solutions. Although not intentionally, our multidisciplinary Columbus office is almost 100% female at this time. I’m happy to have some of these practitioners with me tonight. Like many here, some of our staff are on the path to licensure, some are support staff, and some are our partners in the associated disciplines of interior design and graphic design. We all work together to design a better world, and I know we do it better when we include and support a wide variety of voices within our profession. Thank you.” – Erin Reilly-Sanders
